A boat party checklist ready for your party out on the water is essential. There are a few items you’ll want to make sure you bring along to ensure you stay comfortable and have fun day!
Once you leave the jetty, there’s no turning back so plan ahead and make sure you are ready for an amazing day on the water.Â
If you are reading this you may have read our first blog “book a boat party “ so, it’s likely that you’ve already organised the majority of things for your private boat hire.Â
Let’s assume you’ve already picked the date and you’ve booked your boat!
You’ve sent your invites and if you havent its best to send them as soon as you book the boat. We will send you full itinerary 2 weeks prior in which you can update your guests.
You are few days away from your boat party, so let’s give you some tips and tools to prepare to make sure you’re not forgetting anything,Â
We’ve put together the ultimate boat party checklist to make sure you don’t miss a thing.
If you are on the Gold Coast Marina Mirage there is convenient free overnight secured underground carpark. After your boat party, you can pop everything back in the car if you need to go out or not driving. Brisbane has multiple secure parking in the city, but in Brisbane you won’t be swimming so you won’t need your swimmers and towel. You should be dressed to be on a boat and to party on afterwards .Â
Organise your music
We can suggest a DJ / Musician to play live or you can bring your playlist and Bluetooth into the boat speakers. Suggest that you share your playlist with your reliable bestie, in case something happens to your device on the day . We say around 6 hours of music and doesn’t hurt to pack another charger !
Water - bring water
The boats can offer water but it is not guaranteed good hydrating spring water. The boats will supply Ice and refrigeration .
Bikinis / Bathers / Swimmers / Mankinis / Boardies
Whatever you call them or prefer to wear! Just make sure you pack them, alongside towels, yes I said towels! If your like me, I like a wet towel and a dry-off towel! Sometimes I will use a sarong when I jump out of the water and a towel to dry off so I frock up and get ready for my second lot of festivities !! Sunnies, Sunscreen and Hats are a must for a day trip.
Dress Code
Well this depends on the boat occasion. Comfortable, cool, layering is always a good option, white is a common colour, linens, shorts or whatever your fashionista self feels like! If a winter boat party pack a jacket or shawl to cover your shoulders – btw – winter boat parties are the best – you may not swim but the water is generally calm, minimal rain fall and you’ll enjoy the winter sun and the clear starry nights , very romantic !
Shoes
Barefoot is the best option otherwise white sole shoes eg converse, thongs, and slides ( black or dark sole shoes aren’t allowed as they mark the deck and flooring) if you are on an evening boat that hosts 75 -100 pax ladies you are welcome to wear wedges or platforms! This is only recommended to larger boats as the room is bigger than a catamaran or sports boat.
Toiletries/Make Up Bag
Boat parties are selfie heaven!! Expect to be taking a lot of photos! You’ll likely have a tote bag or backpack to store your towel, shoes, change of clothes etc. Directed to the ladies – if you have a small bag you can pop your lipstick, lipgloss, mascara, and some thing to powder your nose for those selfies! Pack a waterproof bag for your wet clothes. Boats will have first aid kit , but again if your like me I pack some band aids !Â
Drinks on a byo boat
Accepted drinks are anything in a can eg beer, seltzers, rose. White wine spritzer, spirits, etc. STRICTLY NO RED WINE! Red wine if spilt will stain the boat and you can occur a fine. Champagne bottles and white bottles can be accepted depending on the boat regulations. Please bring disposable glassware for wine. If you have kids, poppers and water bottles are great! If you are on a catered boat you will have the option for a per-head package/bar tab or pay individually.Â
Snacks & Food
On a BYO boat you should bring along food and snacks. It’s best to eat while drinking as salt air and swimming activates the taste buds. We can organise hot and cold platters delivered prior to boarding (starting from $80 a platter ). Another suggestion is to bring food on disposable platters. Sushi is great, Antipasto platters, sandwiches or rolls, seafood platters, fruit platter, dips & chips, a hot chook, cheese/crackers platters, sweets/candy/chocolates never go to waste. Some of our boats have a BBQ option so bring your snags, steaks, burgers, and salads. Bring disposable plates/cutlery and napkins . On catered boats we will have organised your menu plan .Â
Motion Sickness tablets
Plus Panadol or Ibuprofen, antihistamine, or any medication is important to take on the boat. Don’t let a headache shorten your boating experience!
